Dear Diary,
In doing more research into the WT's justification for lying, I see that Ray Franz's comments are right on the mark:
He states that in order to get the preaching work done in some countries, the Society has some brothers pose as "tourists," and about every six months, they leave and return again a few days later---as "tourists." This while employed at Branch headquarters. These arrangements are not worked out by individual missionaries but by the WTS.
"The reason for discussing these practices is not because of any interest in judging the ethical or moral nature of the practices of themselves, or the individuals involved. What disturbs me is, once again, the double standard applied, where the organization takes on itself the right to judge the morality of a practice when carried on by "ordinary" people (and their qualifying for appointment as exemplary persons), but considers itself above criticism or condemnation when doing the same thing in order to advance "organizational interests." [ISOCF, "Legalism-Opponent of Christian Freedom," p. 283]
DD---Apparently, our seeing the evil doesn't always register its true nature in our conscious minds. Will the existence of lies and deceit, however, make itself felt in the subconsciousness of those trusting souls, and "awaken" them? When it does, will their collective conscience move them do stop 'touching the unclean thing'? I guess I need to be patient, DD---I didn't see it either, at least, not all at once. What will it take?
